i may have discovered a (somewhat severe) bug: when using accordions and/or tabs (like the demo site) on one page, the page stops working if use too much text in those accordions/tabs. it can be set up but as soon as a certain amount of text is reached, the accordions/tabs are not shown anymore. 🙁
any ideas how to solve this?
i investigated this problem in a bit more detail:
1. i have set up a test page (full width, no sidebar, no border, default template)
2. i have made two equal columns
3. each column has 4 accordions all named 1.1 to 1.4 (resp. 2.1 to 2.4)
4. each accordion is divided into a 2/3 columns (1/3 on the left with postgallery_image with 3 images using the slide set feature, the 2/3 column on the right with text only)
5. when the text in each accordion is just "text" it works perfectly fine.
6. i then started to add text: a short sentence with 40 characters in the first 3 accordions on the left. when adding the text in the fourth accordion it stopped working. i then found out that i could add a sentence of max 16 characters to the fourth accordion before the whole setup stopped working.
so, the conclusion: in this setup the amount of characters in all accordions cannot be higher than 152. this of course is a bug… (or i'm doing something wrong)
i can supply the code if necessary.
thanks for your help.
update: i am working on a mac with safari and firefox (both browsers have the same problem)
update2: interestingly enough, in a second test with two columns and only 4 accordions (2 in each column) i could include more text (i included a text with 866 characters each in three accordions. it stopped working when i added the same text in the fourth accordion)
I am having the same problem. All of the code and text disappears from the home page after hitting a certain word count in the Visual or HTML editor. I noticed this after reaching around 550 words, some of which are shortcodes… I had planned to write quite a bit of text in my tabs and the accordion feature but wasn't even able to finish half of what I wanted to write. The website I am working on is thejournoholic.com if you want to do some investigating. I would really appreciate it if you'd inform me of a fix. Thanks.
you are absolutely right. the problem seems to be that as soon as you hit a certain amount of characters (including shortcodes) the accordions and tabs stop working. (it's not the word count it's got to be the characters).
i had no time to test it yet but the problem seems to be:
1. as soon as you have a certain complexity (more than 4 accordions and/or tabs) AND
2. as soon as you hit a certain amount of characters in the post (including shortcodes)
the page stops to work.
i have not the faintest idea where to search for that problem to be honest…
it seems as if a lot of people are only using few accordions/tabs per page and are only filling the accordions and tabs with very little text/info. otherwise this bug must have surfaced earlier.
any help would be appreciated.
"I don't know if this is related to the same bug, but suddenly my accordian panels and tab panels have switched in color to white instead of dark, like my background. Can anyone advise on this?"
I don't think it is the same issue, i'm having this problem since i've updateed to the latest version and have taken the accordian off and my tabs are all white still.
Thanks for looking into this. I recreated the scenario on a different page using the same settings which created the vanishing accordion and tabs, which were: the two-column, tab and accordion setup shown in the how-to video. I selected four tabs and three accordion levels. After adding a certain amount of text and line breaks — no other coding — to all four tabs… unsure what the limit may be… everything disappears from on the preview or published page screen. I hadn't started on adding text to the accordion yet. Perhaps this will make it easier for you to narrow down the issue?
i have not experienced this issue but have another bug with accordion.
namely, pages with "same" design behave and dispay txt+images differently.
i have 3 cols running in the accordion tab.
it consists of 200x200px image with some text below.
the first column (leftmost) will not show the image no matter how i write the code (visual or html)
even tough it will show that "missing" pic below, if i copy paste the same code to obtain essentially a double length coulumns.
i separate them with horizontal line, paste the same code and picture shows in the second set of code but not in the one above.
i have tried generating a new page with just 3 columns in the accordion and still this weird issue persists.
even if i copy paste from another "working" page with same 3 col "design" and same content, the code in the "new" page causes the image not to show and the "old" page works fine.
i have also noticed that newly generated page is not shown in full width 940px but is missing about 400px in width.
anyone else experiencing similalr ghosts in the machine?
i have verified the picture paths and html code for stray wordpress acts of tag stripping and code mangling.
i am at a loss
i have edited the dynamix.min.js to have accordions be closed on load (per posted instructions)this line:h3.accordionhead",autoHeight:false,collapsible:true,navigation:true});replaced with this line:h3.accordionhead",autoHeight:false,collapsible:true,active:false});could this be the issue?
i have reverted back to the original file version and issue id not go away.
browser is google chrome, latest version
firefox is unaffected and shows the image fine
I am having similar issues with the accordian hiding images. As of last night, it seems to only be hiding images in Google Chrome. I just confirmed by checking IE and Firefox now. The accordian works fine other than Chrome. Problem is, Chrome is what I use. My bottom stage slider also has no margin above images and they look stupid. The text also has no margin.
100 percent agree that it is Chrome alone. I just installed the latest Java update for Chrome as there were known issues, no luck. Andy, here is a link to my code, if it would help. http://www.pcsolutionz.org/Downloads/home%20page.txt
