    Hi

I am trying to disable the mention functionality in BP. To achieve this I have to add code to bp-custom.php in my plugin folder. This works for the default theme, but not for the Dynamix Child theme. What would I need to do?

Also could you explain to me when I have to use functions.php and functions-buddypress.php What is the difference?

    Thank you

    Hi Bram,

    Try placing:

    add_filter( 'bp_activity_do_mentions', '__return_false' ); into functions-buddypress.php.

functions.php is used for the theme, functions-buddypres.php is only called when BP is active.

    Hi Andy

I did try that already and didn’t work. I’ve got it working on the default BP theme by adding the code to functions.php

But can’t get it to work on the child-theme.

    Hi Bram,

Have you tried putting it in the child theme functions file? If that fails, try adding it to the core functions file to see which one works.

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards,
    Tom

    Hi Tom,

Putting it in functions.php in the Child Theme doesn’t work either.

Which file are you referring to with the ‘core functions file’?

    Thanks

    Bram

    Hi Bram,

The core file as in DynamiX/functions.php or switch to core DynamiX > Appearance > Editor > functions.php and place at the bottom of the file.

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards,
    Tom

    Hi Tom,

Adding the code to functions.php in the core theme does not work either.

When adding it to bp-custom.php in my plugins folder it works perfectly with the default BP Theme.

Is there anything else I can try?

    Hi Bram,

I’m not sure why it’s not sticking. Have you tried this plugin to see if it makes a difference?

    Hi Andy

That plugin is quite outdated. Guess I’ll have to try something else…
