    Hi,

Please can you see this link for an illustration of two issues I have about group slider settings. I’m trying to find a way to (1) stop the image from wobbling on image load (2) move the left / right arrows to the top of the image (so that they don’t keep moving around with different image sizes).

If you could help resolve either / both that would be very helpful.

    Hi @henry_nesbitt

We can’t seem to access your WP site (http://sofialeitao.info/wp-login.php), it’s giving us an Error 404. Please check and send us the correct URL.

Oh sorry, that site is not on a public domain name at the moment.

However, if you can add this line into your hosts file you’ll be able to connect to the site.

    95.142.152.194 sofialeitao.info http://www.sofialeitao.info

    Many thanks for your help!

    Hi @henry_nesbitt

    Thanks for the follow-up.

We have set up the host file and even tried this on an incognito window but we are still seeing the 404 page from Weebly.

Can you please recheck if those are the correct host file records?

    Thanks!

    Hi

    Yeah, should be correct.

    If using Windows:

You’ll need to open host file (found in system32/drivers/etc as an Admin) and add the line:

    95.142.152.194 sofialeitao.info http://www.sofialeitao.info

    If using Mac

    1) Open ‘Terminal’ (if on a Mac, or ‘hosts’ file if on Windows)
    2) Type ‘sudo nano /etc/hosts’ and click return
    3) Enter your Password
    4) Scroll down to the next empty space and enter the line you see below in yellow:

    —————————————————

    ##
    # Host Database
    #
    # localhost is used to configure the loopback interface
    # when the system is booting. Do not change this entry.
    ##
    127.0.0.1 localhost
    255.255.255.255 broadcasthost
    ::1 localhost

    95.142.152.194 sofialeitao.info http://www.sofialeitao.info

    —————————————————-

    5) Click: Control ‘x’, then ‘Y’ for save, then ‘return’ (to save)
    6) Open your browser and go to http://www.sofialeitao.info and you should see the new site

    Your Network

Hmm, less you are connecting from within a private network the gateway may be blocking it (in which case you’d need connect to the web via a vpn to by pass it)

Really appreciate your trying to help.

    Thanks

    Hi @henry_nesbitt

I have configured it that way on my Windows laptop. In fact I have removed all my host entries and just added your entry and I am still seeing the Weebly error on multiple browsers. I am also not working on a private network.

Is there a way for you to put the site on a temporary domain instead?

    Thanks!

Yeah, ok – will do. I’ll make the site live on the domain and will let you know.

    Thanks

    Hi @henry_nesbitt

Please update us once you have it ready so we can check if further from our end.

    Hi,

I’ve now made the domain live. If you clear your cache you should be able to access the site using the standard domain url (and no need for host file amendment).

    Password: newinstall

    Thanks very much.

    Hi @henry_nesbitt

The navigation arrows should now be beside the slider images.

For the ‘wobble’ that’s part of the slider and it will require a lot of code changes so it will be best to leave it as such or use another slide instead of the ‘Group Slider’.

    Thanks.

But is it possible to put the buttons ontop of the image (so that they always stay in the same place), rather than to the side (where they move about).

Regarding the wobble issue, I don’t see any other sliders that allow me to add multiple images and view them one at at time. Can you advise how much coding might be needed?

    Cheers,
    Marcus

If need be, we can leave the buttons on the side as they are.

    Hi @henry_nesbitt

You can move the navigation arrows by adjusting the CSS I added under Appearance > Theme Options > Custom CSS. Increasing the width on the CSS will move the navigation arrows closer to the image.

For the wobble, this will require removing and adjusting the javascript that controls the slider.

Currently, you have set the slider to just one column, and if you will keep such layout, then going for the Stage slider is best http://testarea.acoda.com/you/stage-slider/

If you plan to increase the columns per slide, then indeed the Group Slider is the best option for this.

    Thanks!

    Thanks.

Almost there now. I’ll keep the arrow to the left and right of the image (as opposed to above it), however, can you tell me where or how I can control the image sizes as currently the ‘medium’ sized images are way to small and the ‘large’ are too big.

    Example

    http://sofialeitao.info/medium-sized-images/ (to small)

http://sofialeitao.info/large-sized-images-2/ (a bit too big, the user needs to scroll down to see title text often).

Is there somewhere I change the settings to be a bit smaller than the current fixed large setting? I can’t crop the images into a square as they are all varying sizes.

Also, regarding the the coding required to remove the wobble, the artist has said she does want that, can you advise if either you guys can do this coding (if so, what would the cost be) or alternatively if any wp coder should be able to do this?

    Thanks again for all help.

    Marcus

Is there any update on t he questions above?

We’re close to finishing off this site – just need to sort out the issues relating to questions above.

    Thanks
