    Hi,

    After upgrading, icons such as the drop down arrow and search icons are no longer visible on the website. All I see is squares. The icons are visible if I login as the administrator.

    I have a message that indicates that there is a problem accessing fontawesome-webfont.ttf

    Hi Richard,

    Do you have a link to your site please and I’ll test it out. Please state what browser you’re using and whether it’s Mac or PC.

    Hello Andy,

    The link to the website is below.

    http://www.wisenutritioncoaching.com.au/

    I am using Firefox on a PC. The same result also occurs on IE and Chrome.

    The message came from Firefox Web Developer tools – in the log of security errors and warnings. Actual message is:

    Cross-Origin Request Blocked: The Same Origin Policy disallows reading the remote resource at http://wiwi10196.staging-cloud.netregistry.net/wp-content/plugins/js_composer/assets/lib/bower/font-awesome/fonts/fontawesome-webfont.ttf?v=4.2.0. (Reason: CORS header ‘Access-Control-Allow-Origin’ missing).

    The icons were showing before I upgraded. I can also see the icons when I logon as a WordPress administrator.

    Hi Richard,

    It’s not due to the update, another user had a similar issue recently. It’s due to the original address of the icons located here: http://wiwi10196.staging-cloud.netregistry.net, however your site is http://www.wisenutritioncoaching.com.au/

    If your icons were located on http://www.wisenutritioncoaching.com.au/ – it would not have this Cross-Origin issue.

    Hi Andy,

    I found a number of references to the problem on the internet. I solved the problem by creating a .htaccess file in the same folder as the font file. The ..htaccess file contains the following.

    <FilesMatch “\.(ttf|otf|eot|woff)$”>
    <IfModule mod_headers.c>
    Header set Access-Control-Allow-Origin “*”
    </IfModule>
    </FilesMatch>

    My wordpress site is hosted by http://wiwi10196.staging-cloud.netregistry.net. My domain name is http://www.wisenutritioncoaching.com.au. It has been this way for several years.

    I have a backup of the website from before the upgrade and it does show the icons (search, drop down arrow) displaying correctly so it appears that something has changed.

    Hi Richard,

    The only thing I can think of that has changed since that version is Visual Composer which is where the font files are coming from. Unfortunately I can’t think what may have changed in that version to cause this.
