Dynamix slider images work fine in Firefox and Chrome and were unstable in IE8 but have recently stopped working in all IE browsers. Slider images appear as entirely black in place of the image displayed on other browsers.
Site is http://www.qffs.com.au
This is a WP multisite installation and Dynamix is used on all blogs.
Thanks for the great theme.
All was working fine for the last two weeks. Our host applied a security patch to the server and since then we have had issues with IE browsers. Additional testing shows that the slider is behaving in IE as if there is no Gallery Data Source and so the slider appears but it is black.
I have tested permissions on the /public_html/wp-content/themes/DynamiX/lib/scripts/cache folder and 777 does not make any difference. BUT, there are no images in this cache folder.
GD is enabled on the server and it is using PHP 5.2.17
Image paths are in short form.
The theme has not been renamed.
In Firefox on a PC the site is also showing posts and not the slider gallery.
I’ve checked in Safari and Chrome and neither display the images – it suggest either the images are the wrong path or there is a permissions issue, especially if there are no images in the cache folder. Please check with your hosting that the folder is truly set to 777 as some hosting do not allow this.
Once I have set the folder to 777 does this mean I need to recreate the slider or update the page or something to activate it?
Also I am using W3TC for caching and wondered if it was possible this was clashing? I will check with our host but Filezilla says the permissions are 777.
Hi Andy, adding
AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .php
AddType application/x-httpd-php5 .php
To the .htaccess seems to have produced a stable result in some browsers but not IE which is now showing no slider at all. So as if non was selected.
Hope all this helps? Regards, Peter
Update from our hosting provider:
We have noticed that CRYPT_BLOWFISH variable(which is not directly set by
php.ini)is currently disabled after this change in some servers. We
didn’t change value of CRYPT_BLOWFISH specifically. However, this was a
PHP variable set by an old version of suhosin in some servers.
This variable is not set by latest version of suhosin & therefore it is
not possible to restore this PHP variable to old value. Latest suhosin
now available to install will not enable CRYPT_BLOWFISH as it dropped
support for crypt function. We cab see verify this from the link:
Some of your webpages using old codes may be using CRYPT_BLOWFISH & such
web pages may need to modify code to use mcrypt which offer similar
Hope this helps, Regards, Peter
I could only resolve it by disabling Page Cache component of W3Total Cache. Can you provide some understanding as to why the theme has a problem with W3TC, because I would really like to reactivate Page Cache and the 3D slider gallery is the only problem identified in using this plugin for quite some time.
Somehow the W3Total Cache strips a Session variable which the 3d gallery uses – this is something which has come up before, but can’t get to the bottom of why it would destroy it. I need to contact the developers, someone in the past tried to do this but I never received any feedback.
