    Hi,

I’ve been told that my website loads quite slowly. Is there anything I can do to make it load faster? I’ve optimised the images with EWWW Image Optimizer and the max width of all images is set to 1600px.

Any help you can give will be much appreciated.

    my website is: http://zenphotography.co.uk/

    Thanks

    Hi @darksouljah

There seems to be an issue with your server. I did 3 tests. The first result showed that the server was barely responding as shown here: https://tools.pingdom.com/#!/dW03lc/http://zenphotography.co.uk/

The second test showed that the database went down: https://tools.pingdom.com/#!/cBOEnd/http://zenphotography.co.uk/

I did a third test and finally it was able to complete: https://tools.pingdom.com/#!/dr2Bsv/http://zenphotography.co.uk/

From the result, it showed that the bulk of the load time is spent on ‘waiting’ for the server to respond to the request. Are you on a shared hosting server or on a VPS server? Behaviors like this normally appear on sites on shared server.

Do you also have a caching plugin on your site? Adding a caching plugin should also help speed up the site.

    Hi

Apologies about that I spoke to my hosting company this morning and they had issues on the database, this has now been resolved. Hence why you were not able to complete previously.

I believe I’m on a shared hosting server.

I also asked the hosting company if they could help and they installed the following WP Super Cache plugin – i assume this is what you mean by caching plugin?

    Thanks
    Sujal

    Hi Sujal,

Yes WP Super Cache is a caching plugin you can consider.

Has the speed of your site been better after the database issue has been resolved?

    Thanks!
