Hi, my site has posts in different categories but even if you go to a post from a category archive, the next and previous default to ALL posts and not specifically from that category.

As far as my research goes, this is the default. I’m trying to install the Smarter Navigation plugin (which should take care of the problem) which requires you to edit single.php I looked and that file does not have the code that I need. So going through your forum, I found: \lib\inc\classes\single-class.php

I’m working with a child theme, so I placed that file in \mytheme\lib\inc\ but it did not do anything. I also tried \mytheme\lib\inc\classes\ and \mytheme\lib\

What am I doing wrong? And is there a simpler way?

    Hi @gediweb

Can you please send over your site’s URL and login credentials so we can personally check on this from our end?

    Hi @gediweb

I do see the file you created. There is a possibility that the file can’t be hooked on a child theme, that is why the changes won’t appear.

Can you please send over your FTP login so I can review the directory structure and if everything looks good, I will forward this to the developer to confirm if it can’t be hooked and what’s a possible workaround.

    Hi @gediweb

I think this is sorted out now.

To test, I opened this post http://goldengatebpo.com/press-releases/socap-international-announces-new-president-ceo/ which is under “Press Release” category and the next and previous posts are the correct post listed before and after the post here: http://goldengatebpo.com/category/press-releases/page/2/

Can you please confirm from your end?

unfortunately, it’s still not working for me πŸ™
    When I go to: http://goldengatebpo.com/press-releases/golden-gate-bpo-solutions-partners-india-based-kgisl-provide-business-support-services-software-services/

I get next and previous blog posts that are in the “blog” category and not press releases.

    Hi @gediweb

Have you tried to clear your browser cache or used a private/incognito window?

The next and previous posts that appear from my end on that page are:
? Golden Gate BPO Solutions Announces New Chief Marketing And Business Development Officer
Golden Gate BPO Solutions CEO Stephen Ferber Appointed To Dingman Center For Entrepreneurship Board Of Advisors ?

Copied from the page (including the arrows πŸ˜€ ) then pasted here. The same previous and next post listed here: http://goldengatebpo.com/category/press-releases/

oh wow! I thought I cleared all cache. I even tried browsers that I’ve never used to access the site. Hmmm.

    Works perfectly now.

Can you tell me what you did? I’m working on some changes on a staging server at the moment and dont want to over-write anything when I import the changes into the live site.

    Hi @gediweb

Your single-class.php file was in the incorrect folder so I moved it to \lib\inc\classes\.

I also copied post-footer.php to \lib\inc\classes\ and copied content.php into your child theme.

After doing so, I updated the include() path for both content.php and post-footer.php to absolute path to the child theme because using the relative path, it was still calling the files from the parent theme.

I also removed some lines from single-class.php as there was error that a function from Smart Navigation can’t be redeclared.
