You can manually declare an excerpt per post, or you can add a code to your child theme’s functions.php to limit the characters on the excerpt.
To style the grid layout, each grid should have a unique Class name and you can use this Classes to style each block/grid individually.
Figured out the post excerpt length.
The answer to my second question does not really get at what I am trying to accomplish. Take a look at the homepage that I am working on https://parsecfinan.wpengine.com
Currently, the News & Insights inner row is set to 4 columns. In each column, I have added a post grid element with the data source assigned to a single category and a grid template created with desired background color. I have done this for all four columns, changing category and grid template.
This somewhat works as it will always display the latest post in each category with the desired background color. However, I technically have 5 categories (specific background colors).
Categories and Colors:
– Responsibility = orange
– Goals = purple
– Security = yellow
– Planning = green
– Ethics = blue
What I am looking for is to…
– Set the row to one column.
– Add a post grid element with 4 total items and 4 grid elements per row.
– The 4 latest posts would display and the background color would take on the desired color assigned to the category. So this could be green, green, blue, purple…OR…green, blue, purple, orange…OR…blue, purple, purple, orange…etc. It would be whatever the latest four posts are in the blog and that categories assigned color.
