    In the wordpress Reading settings, when I set my blog page as the static page for posts, (created according to instructions and youtube i found online from CWZ) the posts disappear from that page and no content is shown besides sidebars. I can get the posts to show up by clicking a category, but my actual blog page won’t show them. However, if I choose any other page under the Reading setting as my static posts page, the posts return and display as expected. When i add social sharing plugins (after trying several that wouldn’t show up in posts, only pages), the links they share give the following error, the same error I get if i click on the title of a post.

    Call to undefined function bp_thread_has_messages() in /home/content/84/7389884/html/wp-content/themes/DynamiX/single.php on line 5

    I learned that the bp part of the error has something to do with buddypress, which wasn’t installed. SO, i installed buddypress and the error message went away, but now just shows a blank screen.

    Any ideas?

    Hi,

    Have you selected which categories you want to display on your blog page? See Edit Page -> Blog Categories (Bottom Right Panel).

    Let me know how you get on.

    Hi thanks for the reply! Yep, i just double checked and the reading setting is still set to my blog (http://anykinddesign.com/blog) and the page template is blog (although I’ve tried with every other page template also and it does the same thing) AND the categories are all checked on that lower right hand side section. I did verify that when i use the default theme in wordpress that the blog works just as it should, without changing any settings. When i change it back to dynamix though it goes back to hiding my posts. On my blog page with all categories enabled I get the following error:

    http://anykinddesign.com/blog.

    I’ve recreated the blog page several times now and they all do the same thing. Do I need to do something with buddypress (deactivated right now) or with custome fields or something? Any other ideas?

    Thanks.

    There is something very bizarre going on there – can you disable all your plugins and report whether you still get the issue please.

    Thanks

    Andy

    OK, just disabled them. same error:

    Hi,

    So you have disabled ALL plugins and still getting that error? Has the theme been modified because that shouldn’t happen.

    yes, all plugins are deactivated, therefore not being used. I have not modified the theme because I don’t even know how to modify the theme…I may have without knowing, but I don’t know php at all and barely know html (just learning) and actually have no idea how to even get into the code.

    Should I try to uninstall and redownload/reinstall the theme?

    Do you want me to make you a temp admin to my site?

    I’m looking at your website at the moment and if all the plugins are disabled there is something wrong with the install of the theme or wordpress.

    What version of dynamix are you using?

    I’m using version 2.7.5.
    I’m also using the most current version of wordpress.

    make sure in reading that posts page is unselected like:

    –select–

    Then create a page with a name of your choice,select the blog categories to display,select blog page template and publish.

    check permalinks are not set to default,choose a different one,create a post making sure to give it the category that was included on the blog page.

    I did have it set up that way with permalinks as /%category%/%postname%/ and all categories are selected on both the blog page and appropriately on each post. When i did this, none of the “share” plugins would work on posts, only pages, and when i clicked on the titles of the blog posts i’d get the error specified previously in this thread, and when i manually added share content through html, the links it would send out or share would give people that same error.

    After all, shouldn’t this work with the static posts page set to my blog?

    The only code i edited besides shortcodes was putting google analytics in the footer, some basic html links on my home page for facebook and twitter, and a html table on my home page.

    ive noticed by the source code your google analytics has the closing tag but no opening tag and a couple of your webpages fail to load the footer: heres how your google should start:

    script type=”text/javascript”

    var _gaq = _gaq || [];
    _gaq.push();
    _gaq.push();

    (function() {
    var ga = document.createElement(‘script’); ga.type = ‘text/javascript’; ga.async = true;
    ga.src = (‘https:’ == document.location.protocol ? ‘https://ssl’ : ‘http://www’) + ‘.google-analytics.com/ga.js’;
    var s = document.getElementsByTagName(‘script’)[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s);
    })();

    /script

    dont forget to add the brackets to the script tags,i had to remove them so the forum didnt strip the code.

    This is what I have. I think it matches yours right?

    script type=”text/javascript”

    var _gaq = _gaq || [];
    _gaq.push();
    _gaq.push();

    (function() {
    var ga = document.createElement(‘script’); ga.type = ‘text/javascript’; ga.async = true;
    ga.src = (‘https:’ == document.location.protocol ? ‘https://ssl’ : ‘http://www’) + ‘.google-analytics.com/ga.js’;
    var s = document.getElementsByTagName(‘script’)[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s);
    })();

    /script

    (except including brackets)
