I am SO looking forward to getting this resolved. I have switched to another theme so the front page would be visible.

I saw that. For revolution slider, it refers you to http://www.themepunch.com/faq/how-to-update-the-slider/ That page says
1. Contact your theme’s author and ask them to send you a copy of the latest version of the plugin. This will be a “zip” file named “revslider.zip”.
For Visual Composer, I was unable to find it from these instructions assessed on that page: If you need to update Visual Composer, go to Plugins > Deactivate Visual Composer > Then delete Visual Composer ( this will not affect your data ). Next, goto Appearance > Click “Install Plugins”, Install Visual Composer. I could not find a place to download it without purchasing it — either from the plugin search function or through Envato.
Once you’ve deleted the Visual Composer plugin, you can now goto Appearance > Install Plugins and you’ll see here that you can install the Visual Composer.
For Revolution Slider, you can download the theme from ThemeForest > Unzip it and locate the latest version of Revolution Slider is within the DynamiX/plugins/ folder.
