    Updating from 4.2.2 to 4.2.3:

    the footer disappeared completely.

    We had custom code in it, displaying a webcounter (see code below) and also a (commercial = paid) plug-in with a messenger bar in there.

    123 Web Messenger – https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-instant-messaging/screenshots/
    (the commercial version is current and updated)

    Webcounter code:
    <p style=”margin-bottom: 0px;”><p style=”margin-bottom: 0px;”><!– hitwebcounter Code START –>

    <!– hitwebcounter.com –><a href=”http://www.hitwebcounter.com/internetcountercontact.php” title=”www.hitwebcounter.com”
    target=”_blank” style=”font-family: Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
    font-size: 7px; color: #848387; text-decoration: underline ;”>http://www.hitwebcounter.com

    Hi Josh,

    I’m really not sure why when you’re updating you’re losing widgets. What process are you using to update the theme? I’ve tested the servers and other sites too and the footer remains intact ( no code was changed with regards to the footer either ).

    Can you check it’s still enabled in Theme Options > Footer.

    maybe “footer” is not the correct word.

    i turned the footer back on in the “theme options” settings, but this is not it.

    It still does no longer show the web counter code nor the messenger bar.

    It must have something to do with the theme update, because that is precisely the time it stopped working when we updated the theme to 4.2.3

    Are the widgets still there in Appearance > Widgets? I’m guessing that’s how you added them, can they not be added back – they maybe in the Appearance > Widgets > Inactive Widgets section.
