I am on WordPress 5.0.2 and now my site takes forever to load on all pages even if it has no photos. It doesn’t seem to cache items either.
Please help. This just started and I need help.

    Hi @marchewka12

As I checked your site here https://tools.pingdom.com/#59fd322b78800000, it shows that the total page size of your site is 6.9MB. 6.4MB of which are images on the site.

This size will drag the site’s load time. A well-optimized site should stay around 1-2MB.

You can optimize the images of your site or you can install any image optizimation plugin like EWWW Image Optimizer.

I do know that the images add up but the site has been working fine until 5.02. a bit slow but nothing like it is now.
The load time is extremely long on open page and every other page even if it has one small photo and type. It’s consistently slow load for each page.

I even removed all but 2 images from home page and still take extremely long.
We used a different theme and it loaded quickly so I don’t believe it’s the image size issue.
Im not a programmer but it seems as though something maybe timing out and eventually it gets to the page.

    Please advise.

I noticed that when loading, at bottom, it goes to http://www.marchewka.com/hs but then goes to http://www.themava.com too. Not sure if it always did this or suppose to but something I hadn’t noticed.

    Hi @marchewka12

We have not received reports of issues with the theme’s load time on WP 5.0. Our test site is also running version 5.0 without any issues which leads me to think this is site-specific.

For a better view, this result from Pagespeed Insights should show a better view of the issue:
    https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmarchewka.com%2Fhs%2F

If you check, there are flags for the images being loaded under:
    – Serve images in next-gen formats
    – Efficiently encode images
    – Properly size images

    These are also flagged in:
    – Serve static assets with an efficient cache policy
    – Avoid enormous network payloads

So, it would really be best to look into optimizing/minimizing the images you are using on the site to be better web-friendly. Then we can check on the issue further after that.

Also, I personally checked the site and the load time is decent aside from the preloader’s loading time. Try to disable the preloader animation under Theme Options > General if this is your main issue.

Thanks. It seems as the theme bug was with preloaded animation. That fixed my problems. As mentioned, I know the site is a bit slow but I have big images. It was taking 1-2 minutes with the preloaded and then would do the preloaded with each link for 2 minutes.
It was working fine prior. Thanks a million for that tip. It saved me!!
